A Cultural Guide to Markets in Frankfurt
Frankfurt maintains its reputation for
financial power and futuristic architecture yet contains a lively market
culture which presents both traditional elements and international influences
and delectable cuisine.
Kleinmarkthalle: A Food Lover’s
Paradise
The first destination on my itinerary was
Kleinmarkthalle which Frankfurt residents consider their beloved indoor food
market. Upon entering I immediately detected the combination of scents
including fresh bread alongside spices and sizzling bratwurst.
The 60+ vendors at this market display their
selection of Hessian local food as well as international gourmet items
throughout the halls.
Make sure to check Heathrow airport parking options and book accordingly. |
Schillermarkt: A Local’s Favorite
The Schillermarkt takes over the city center
every Friday with its diverse local market experience that should not be
missed. The stalls displayed a wealth of organic produce as well as fresh
flowers and artisanal cheeses. The best part? The market vendors gladly tell
visitors about the stories that accompany their products.
Berger Strabe Flea Market: A
Treasure Hunter’s Dream
The Berger Strabe flea market offers vintage
treasure seekers an endless selection of vintage items. My exploration led me
to discover antique books and handmade crafts as well as retro vinyl records in
the marketplace.
