NYC in the Summer: What to Do When It’s Hot

During summertime New York City combines enchantment with scorching temperatures. The city achieves its highest level of excitement while maintaining its longest days when the energy spreads throughout the entire city.

The combination of subway temperatures and concrete jungle atmosphere makes it extremely hot. My initial visit to NYC during summer taught me that beating the heat demands organized precautions.

Much like I learned to plan ahead with Heathrow airport cheap parking, which made the start of my trip far smoother than expected.

New York City features multiple cooling activities that let visitors experience its cultural appeal.

Hit the Ferry

Avoid the hot subway by choosing the NYC Ferry as your transportation method. The ferry service provides affordable transportation that combines skyline views and a clear sight of the Statue of Liberty.

After getting an iced coffee I took the ferry to Governors Island where I found complete summer paradise.

Chill in Central Park (Literally)

During summer months Central Park operates as a sanctuary where people relax. Sheep Meadow's tree shade provides relief and the Great Lawn offers an opportunity for picnic enjoyment.

My afternoon became much more enjoyable when I discovered a free jazz show located near Bethesda Terrace.

Cool Museums with Cool A/C

When in doubt, museum it out. The Met and MoMA along with the American Museum of Natural History function both as cultural landmarks and fully air-conditioned buildings. This method provides a perfect opportunity to experience both cool temperatures and cultural activities.

Rooftop Pools & Frozen Treats

NYC hotels provide rooftop swimming facilities that guests can access through day passes to enjoy a brief escape from the heat. The city has exceptional ice cream spots like Morgenstern’s and Chinatown Ice Cream Factory which serve extraordinary flavors beyond traditional vanilla.

Catch a Sunset from the Water

The evening in NYC can be enjoyed through sunset boat rides followed by strolls along the Hudson River Greenway. The sunset transforms the skyline while the refreshing wind starts to blow? Pure perfection.
