The historical Finnish city of Turku manages to remain
lively while offering numerous activities suitable for families.
Our family day in Turku became ideal because the educational
activities successfully combined with outdoor recreation and the friendly
hospitality maintained everyone's attention.
Remember that if you are travelling with family then always
book meet and greet at Heathrow and
travel stress-free.
Start at the Forum Marinum Maritime Centre
Our family started our day at the Forum Marinum which
features docked ships for exploration at Turku's maritime museum.
The maritime museum offered visitors the chance to explore
the majestic ships while interactive displays taught about Finnish maritime
history.
Our children loved watching ducks swim as we drifted near
colorful structures and lush riverbanks during our short river voyage.
Ride Along the Aura River
We boarded a riverboat that traveled the Aura River at the
center of Turku. The river crossing by boat showed us Turku's different
perspective while our children watched ducks swim alongside colorful
architecture and green riverbanks.
The boat ride allowed us to experience a peaceful pace while
enjoying Turku's relaxed city rhythm.
Picnic and Play at Kupittaa Park
We spent our lunchtime at Kupittaa Park which stands as
Turku's biggest urban park while serving as the family destination of choice.
We set our picnic at a spot near the playground before our
kids enjoyed unrestricted access to swings and climbing equipment and splash
zones.
The park features both a small zoo and a skate park that
attracts visitors of diverse ages.
Turku Castle Museum
The museum at Turku Castle provides children with an
exciting adventure trail as their last destination. The historical content came
alive through scavenger hunts and secret staircases alongside knight-themed
corners.
The family-friendly environment of Turku offered a perfect
setting for memorable family outings which provided enjoyable surprises for
every member of the family.
